Sister Claudine is raising money to build a new church in a central location to enable the elderly and infirm to access Mass and other services more easily. Right now, most villagers walk for more than one hour one way to attend Mass. Sister reports that some poor families have been given food and money to join other faith communities located much closer to their homes. A new Catholic Church would help renew the spirit of the Catholic faith in Fianarantsoa and offer hope to those who want to attend Mass, but are unable to travel far from their homes.
