Project Leader:
Pope Francis
Pope Francis reminds us to answer God’s missionary call. We send ourselves, especially in this unprecedented year, to Africa, where 19,000 young men are preparing to be priests, to uplift the poor, celebrate the Sacraments, reach out to children and families, and comfort the sick and dying. We send ourselves to Asia where young men are preparing for the priesthood at Stella Maris Major Seminary in Vietnam. Prayers and financial help are needed as they answer their vocations, prepare to celebrate the Sacraments, and offer the message of the Gospel to uplift the poor. Your generosity also provides for those preparing to serve as religious Sisters or Brothers. In the first year it was established (1889), the Society of St. Peter Apostle sent help for some 2,700 seminarians in the Missions, including the missions of the United States at that time. Today, some 35,500 major seminarians, mostly in Africa (19,500) and Asia (16,000), receive an annual subsidy of $700 per student. Religious novices (close to 10,000) also receive about $250-$300 for their studies. Your gift of $25, supporting vocations and educating a future priest or religious, is a blessing that brings the witness of the Gospel to vulnerable mission communities around the globe. Thank you!
