Sister Sister M. Ancilla Maloney
The district of Layo where the Sacred Heart Alternative High School is located is 12,000 feet high in the Andes mountains. There are no high schools in the region for the students to attend. Their families are poor farmers or raise animals. They cannot afford to send food with their children to the school except for some potatoes. They leave home at 4:00 AM walk 4 or 5 hours from their homes to Layo each Thursday and stay overnight with families in town. They go to class Friday and then walk home again. Please help provide nutrition for these ambitious students.
