Project Leader:
Miss Mara Le Mahieu
In 2000, Marga van Barschot, a lay missionary of the Society for African Missions, started as a coordinator of this project. Before she went to Africa, she worked in the Netherlands as a social worker in the youth care. She decided to apply her knowledge and love for children in Tanzania. Upendo Daima Project has grown into a coherent organization with 22 Tanzanians, working as counselors, tutors, teachers, cooks, gardeners, nurses or guards. At the end of 2016 Marga handed over her responsibilities to a new director named Laurent Sabini. Today, the mission remains unchanged - To re-unify street children with their families through counseling and various kinds of support including residential care.
